About
Us We love natural sustainable leather.
Our cause is to sell value products to anyone who makes,
mends or adapts things from leather.
You will deal with a team of people that believe in you and what we can do together. Allow us to introduce ourselves, there are three business partners
Jackie Laight
Jackie does everything; she buys, she sells, she administers, she's our engine room and a real inspiration to us all.
Lynnie Smith
Experience and knowledge, Lynnie's our guiding spirit who
covers film, TV and Theatre for us. For 14 years she
ran her own very successful film supply business in London.
Her business experience and creative energy are invaluable
to us.
Peter Laight
Peter's a PHD Leatherdog who's spent 43 years developing
and making leather throughout the world. Now he's making
leathers based on each of the last 10 centuries and working
on developing organic leather for the future. Working
for Pittards, the leather manufacturers, for 25 years,
he was responsible for developing their water proof range
and was their divisional Managing Director.
At The Identity Store he's developed ways of digitally
printing on any leather for any market. He's a Harvard
graduate.
Store Managers Each of our stores has, or will
have, a manager. Trevor Rhodes is that man in Northampton.
Trevor's a leather carver-maker and all-round human being
who will do anything to help. He is a qualified instructor
and leads regular classes.
Advisors We listen and take advice from all our customers; some take it a little further and become voluntary advisors in specialist areas in order to help develop authentic products in their discipline.
Commitment We want to use traditional and modern
skills and systems to help use and promote leather. We have
been involved in leather all of our lives and are proud of
the part it can play in the modern world. Leather has been
involved in the evolution of humans for hundreds of thousands
of years. There is no other sheet material as beautiful,
as sensuous, or as funtional with a myriad of uses. Things
will go from strengh to strength if we continually improve
animal welfare and the processes by which leather is used
and produced. Then we can proudly promote leather as part
of the 21st century.
